Artist Statement

I attempt to look beyond the surface beauty of the landscape, exploring the complex interplay between humanity and the land. My work seeks to explore into the “politics of landscapes,” encompassing environmental concerns, aesthetics, and the evolving narratives of ownership, beauty, and the sublime.

The core of my work lies in questioning the passive role often attributed to landscapes. The landscape is shaped by nature’s forces but also by human actions and in turn influencing our identities and emotions. I explore how landscapes are constructed and consumed, particularly the role of photography to impact our perception of our environment.

The intention is for the photograph to serve as a catalysts for deeper contemplation. To to move beyond a purely aesthetic appreciation, and instead, engage with landscape as multifaceted social and political space. My aim is to engage in a dialogue about the environments that surround us, encouraging a more nuanced understanding of the intricate relationship between humanity and the land.
